What to Expect

Travel by mini coach to sites of importance to Kaikoura Maori people and and whilst there hear tales of bygone days and see legends hidden in the landscape today.  You’ll learn the precise history of the area handed down from one generation to the next, over more than 800 years of occupation.

Right from the start you’ll be involved and you can ask questions about the things you want to know more about.

Throughout your journey, there’s opportunities to learn Maori ways including traditional greetings, weaving with harakeke (the native flax plant) and much more.

MANAWA and TE RA tours take you for a forest walk where you will be shown a variety of plants and trees, some have stood for hundreds of years, and as you wander the well-defined track, family members will share knowledge about how plants are used for food and medicine.

Intimate and personal cultural exchanges.
Providing you with genuine insight into Maori people and way of life.
